kite chasing

the forget-me-not//remembrance

The saddest part of growing up is growing apart. Humans change so quickly, move so easily, and get so busy- or at least I do. Regrettably, the joy and excitement with loved ones lessens over time. Oddly enough, the pain and sorrow from their departure lessens too—not completely or quickly of course, but lessens nonetheless.

Kite Chasing is a song you’d listen to sitting on a roof drinking a lukewarm beer during a sleepless night. Made for the times you want to reminisce and mourn the memories never made.

I know that the Wind takes kites to wherever they’re supposed to go. I’m just afraid that they’ll be taken someplace painful, lonely, and far. And I’m afraid I’ll never again see the kites I didn’t hold onto tight enough.

For the last chapter of March, I bundled forget-me-nots for the memories we want to remember and the fears we can’t seem to forget.

lyrics:
There’s a playground
Under the bridge
With a swing to the moon

When we were younger,
We ran hand and hand
Connected by blood
Bound by love

But the moment ends
And the weather turns
My grip loosens
On the string tying you

Holding tightly to the line,
Why do I always let go?
I close my eyes, dream again,
Kite Chasing after you

A stiff cold room
Wearing black shoes
Can’t lift my eyes to you

And the music
That was our joy
Turned to a shroud
Hiding the sun behind clouds

Yet the moment ends
And the weather turns
Though I long for you
You’re not here anymore

And I know that the Wind will take you where you’re supposed to go

So I close my eyes, dream again,
Kite Chasing after you

Who’ll be there?
When I cross the bridge,
Will I feel your hand?
Will we meet again?

Where are you?
Are you close?
I can’t find you

Can you hear me sing to you?
Are you singing too?
